Love Today, as tomorrow is but an abstract. Love. Today, it’s revolutionary… an act of defiance.
I needed to revisit “Love Today” watching innocent unarmed people publicly murdered in cold blood while other people try to justify the inexcusable. So, if a Love song (as they’re all love songs) has become a political statement, then so be it.
Joseph North’s production on this thing is golden. Thomas “Ski” Szypulski, Donald Mc Donald, Eammon Shanahan, Greg Thomas and Dewey Walsh as members of Blue Marble Beat, are a testament to that band’s slightly-ahead is its time vision. These guys helped this song come to fruition a decade+ ago.
The Archbishops of Blount Street was such a good band. Therein, Brannon Bollinger and Jeremy Boomhower helped to further flesh the song out. Today, they continue to put on fantastic shows as Boom Unit Brass Bandas well as The Spectacles. They are guest stars as the horn section on this single. I played trumpet. For the first time in a long time. They helped me realize that remembering the fingering is not enough.
The streaming platform breakout continues as “Groovalixit,” the first single from the deciBel Grooves LP is now on Apple Music and iTunes joining Spotify.
More streaming services will come onboard soon. Then, we’ll drop more singles.
Sorry for the bi-weekly tardiness. We’ve been in London… on our way to Kenya. Details soon. Meanwhile, we’ve got bad new and good news. For now, we’re keeping details under our hat… except for our nearest, dearest, most trusted ears, AKA dB Groove Nation.
Citizens of deciBel Grooves Nation have already heard track #4 of the new deciBel Grooves album. The LP is available in its entirety via Patreon, where you can join Groove Nation for free. But now, non-citizens can also have a little taste while we wait for all of the planet’s conventional streaming services to complete their various processes.
Stream or download the new single here. Speaking of downloads, watch this space for news about a secret Grooves stash, exclusively for deciBel Groove Nation citizens.
But why? Why are direct downloads better than the conventional streaming services?
Quality: Our downloads are MP3s at 320 Kbps CBR. Tech mumbo-jumbo to most. Translation: Hi-Fi. Way way Hi-Fi. The better your playback gear, the better it sounds.
Stability: The cloud giveth and the cloud taketh away. If your network connection gets disrupted for any reason, you can hear your music saved on your local devices.
Control: No ads, no algorithmic “recommendations (i.e., often paid disruptions)”, and you can playlist/mix-and-match your downloads to your exact specifications and moods.
decibel Grooves has been submitted to every streaming service known to mankind.
But you, as a citizen of deciBel Grooves Nation, can hear the whole thing (for free) before anyone else, while the other platforms go through their various processes.
